On 18th Jan we took the channel tunnel train over to Calai and drove to Ypres in Belgium to visit the Trenshes and battlefields of the Western Front in World War 1.

Birthday Soft play
On my birthday I picked Ella up from school with Cal and we went to specky's Pirate ship soft play at Guildford spectrum.
National Archives
On 12th January I visited the National Archives in Kew to search for the military records of my grandfather adn read the war diaries of 250th Brigade RFA from 1914-18

Happy New Year 2007/8
Although the forecast was wet and windy I drove up to North Wales on Friday 28th and rode the Coed Y Brenin MBR trail in torrential rain in all my goretex! The trails were like streams and the streams were huge fords ready to sweep me off my bike!
Sat 29th I went up to walk from Ogwen cottage up Devils Kitchen to the summit of Y Garn (944m) as I got there a hailstorm started and 70mph gusts. I had to dive to the ground several times and brace myself to not get blown off the edge as I tried to descend as quickly as possible. Too risky to stay high!
That night I got my first intro to Wii Sports- great fun playing tennis against Rory and Jake. (My Wii age 47)
Sun 30th Ken and I rode the Dragons Back at CYB (26km). Weather was better but I was tired by the end. Afterwards Rory and Jake showed us their skills on their new Kona Hula bikes on Tawr trail first section, with Rory taking a dive in a big rock gully!
NYE we rode all together- first the Tawr trail to the old visitor centre where we rode the berms, then Yr Afon to the first road, up to Dream Time and along that with Jake taking the huge crashes today! We finished Yr Afon and then Ken adn I rode...
Badgers, Dream Time, Yr Afon back to road climb towards MBR trail and finished on The beginning of the end.
NYE party at Rhiw Goch Inn where we had a buffet and danced at the disco with Jake before seeing the New Year in at the cabin pictured above.
A great finish to the year!
