Riding Busse woods

A Hill in Chicago!
25 June
Rode the Busse woods after work in 90 degree heat. It's only a mile to ride there from the hotel down Woodfield road.

The paths are mainly tarmac cycle paths but I read about a man made hill that was made from what they dug out to make the lake. I got to it from some dirt singletrack and all looked promising. I climbed up the hill through long grass on very narrow rutted track. The clim was not too bad but I stopped at the top and got attacked by mosquitoes- BIG HUNGRY ones.

Ow Ow Ow!

I rode down fast but the dirt track just became long grass and I soon escaped back to the tarmac having no idea what strange creatures could be living in the grass reaqdy to atack me.

I ended up doing every single tarmac stretch around the woods some 38km and rode back to the hotel with the sun setting. Lovely evening. Even got a refreshing hose down by the roadside grass sprayers!

My legs are now ratrher blotchy and red and I am avoiding itching them!!
